Very minor rubbing at the spine ends; the corners are sharp. The book is near fine. Dust jacket is present but is fragile and has sustained some tearing along the edges. The spine panel is just holding at the top; there is a small amount of loss about halfway down. The flaps are in near fine condition. The damage to the jacket does not detract from the attractiveness of its illustration to both wraps. Its intrinsic state has been protected in Brodart so that it can be handled without further damage. Katchadourian was an Armenian artist who died in Paris the year after this book was published. FitzGerald's lyrical meditation on 'human death and fate'. Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is the title that Edward FitzGerald gave to his 1859 translation from Persian to English of a selection of quatrains attributed to Omar Khayyam, dubbed "the Astronomer-Poet of Persia".
