Published in 1904, it was the first English book on roe. It was issued as a subscription edition of only 100 copies and is now extremely scarce. This copy does not state 'Subscription Edition' on the title page, but does have the alphabetical list of subscribers at the back. This was the first book in English solely devoted to the Roe. Part 1 The Natural History; Part II Roe Hunting; Part III Roe Shooting; Part IV The Roe In Heraldry; Part V Management Of Roe. An extremely scarce title, there were 72 initial subscribers to this book, which included many leading sportsmen of the day, libraries and institutions. A book which seldom appears for sale.
