1st edition. Comedy novel and a sequel to the author's 1947 novel Whisky Galore. The inhabitants of a remote Scottish island resist a government plan to build a missile base on their home. The author refers to it, in a Author's Note, as a 'bitter farce', as opposed to a 'genial farce' that Whisky Galore was. Pp.246, toned strips to endpapers. Dark pink cloth, dustwrapper (design by Clarke Hutton) has edge tears to top edges and top of spine and small loss to top rear corner tip. VG/G+.** It was filmed in 1958 (with some changes) as "Rockets Galore!" directed by Michael Relph and starring Jeannie Carson, Donald Sinden and Roland Culver.

Britain's Royal Air Force declares plans to establish a guided missile base on a small Hebridean island, aggravating the locals, who intentionally delay construction, to the consternation of an RAF officer sent to negotiate with the islanders. Set in the Hebrides, shot on location on the island of Barra. Beige titled wrappers, noted as Semi-Final Script on the front wrapper, dated 14.2.58. Title page present, dated February, 1958, noted as Semi-Final Script. 102 leaves, with last page of text numbered 101. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with a silver prong.

Mont was the name that Mackenzie used with friends, the diminutive of his middle name, Montague. The sequel to *Whiskey Galore*, one of several of the Highland comedies by Mackenzie that were adapted for the excellent British television series *Monarch of the Glen.*.
