William R. Poole [1918-2014] was a distinguished Canadian lawyer, law professor and bibliophile. Leonard Brockington [1888-1966], the "common friend," was a Welsh-born lawyer who later emigrated to Canada and practiced in Calgary. He was the first chairman of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and served as rector of Queen's University in Kingston.
