U.S. Marshals Service, "Ward Hill Lamon: Lincoln and His Marshal". Ward Hill Lamon acted as Lincoln's body-guard and was a close friend of the sixteenth President of the United States. He was serving as the Chief U.S. Marshal for the District of Columbia at the time of Lincoln's assassination, an event which devastated Lamon. A few private ownership markings and both hinges cracked but the binding is secure.
