Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. RASSELAS PRINCE OF ABYSSINIA A TALE BY DR. JOHNSON 1847 SMALL HARD COVER. I am pleased to offer a small hard cover book with a philosophical tale about the search of happiness in life by Dr. Johnson (Samuel Johnson) titled: Rasselas, Prince of Abyssinia- A Tale. This very small hard cover book (3 ¾ x 6 ¼ inches,124 pages) was published by S. Andrus & Son of Hartford, dated 1847. It is bound in blind-stamped dark brown paper covered boards with gilt titles on the spine. I especially like vintage books (almost 200 years old) published by small publishing houses of the eastern United States and find it remarkable that the book is still holding together nicely. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are dust-dulled and rubbed, with some tiny holes in the lower front gutter and some wear to the corners. The gilt decorations and title on the spine are worn and hard to read. Inside, the book is unmarked but there are quite a few tide lines throughout the book but none really very dark or serious and certainly none that affect the legibility of the text. There is no real toning or foxing or soiled spots. The hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Language: ENG.…
