Jones (Ave Maria Lane) dated in the lower margin: November 9th, 1814This highly detailed index map depicts London before its Victorian expansion, outlining the boundaries of the historic city wards, libert…ies, and parishes using a combination of numeric and Roman numeral codes. The map extends from Somerstown and Hoxton in the north, down through Westminster and Lambeth, and over to Stepney, Rotherhithe, and Deptford in the east. Top right hand corner is a decorative compass rose.With no folds, blank verso and original, attractive hand colour wash to differentiate the various parish boundaries and parklands.Measuring approx 9" x 7" ( 230mm x 180mm) to the clear platemark with good margins beyond. Dated and credited (Thomson Bury St Bloomsbury, Published G.Jones Ave Maria Lane Nov 9th 1814) in the margins.Fine, unmarked condition save for some minor toning to the margins.
