April 1980 in Los Angeles) war ein britischer Filmregisseur und Filmproduzent. 1939 siedelte er in die USA über und nahm am 20. April 1955 zusätzlich die amerikanische Staatsbürgerschaft an. Hitchcock gilt als einer der stilistisch einflussreichsten Spielfilmregisseure und etablierte die Begriffe Suspense und MacGuffin in der Filmwelt. Sein angestammtes Genre war der Thriller, charakteristisch seine Verbindung von Spannung mit Humor. Die wiederkehrenden Motive seiner Filme waren Angst, Schuld und Identitätsverlust. Mehrfach variierte er das Thema des unschuldig Verfolgten. Hitchcock legte großen Wert auf künstlerische Kontrolle über seine Werke. Sein Gesamtwerk umfasst 53 Spielfilme und gehört in Hinblick auf Publikumserfolg sowie Rezeption durch Kritik und Wissenschaft zu den bedeutendsten der Filmgeschichte. Auch dank bewusster Selbstvermarktung zählt Hitchcock heute zu den bekanntesten zeitgeschichtlichen Persönlichkeiten und ist dem Autorenfilm zuzurechnen. Am 3.
