No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. Two complementary charts, both Preliminary Editions dated 20 Dec 1952, printed in blue on both sides of single unfolded leaves 21x27cm. Sheets such as this would normally be bound up into route books tailored to specific flights. These sheets appear to be unused, in near fine, lightly creased condition. The RAF built an airstrip at Salalah in Dhofar (in 1928 or by 1935 depending on the source) to support the Sultan of Oman. In the 1950s it became an important refuelling and staging post for Vickers Valetta flights from Khormaksar (Aden) to Mauripur (Karachi), until the latter closed in 1956. Aircraft based here participated in the Jebel Akhdar War during 1954-57. The fronts feature the approach chart showing the environs on a scale of 1/500K with section, notes, and approach marked. The backs have a plan of the landing strip on a scale of 1/25K with notes on lighting, special warnings in relation to the Monsoon and terrain, and radio facilities.
