Comstock, with ink notation: 4.53. Printed in Great Britain. Originally published in German in 1921. Reiche: one of Max Planck's few doctoral students: "one of the first books on quantum theory." Previous owner Daniel Frost Comstock (b. 1883) was Professor of Physics at MIT and author of "The nature of matter and electricity; an outline of modern views" (1921). The Australian translator Henry Leopold Brose (1890-1965) is himself an adventure: "studied mathematics at Oxford and taught physics at the University of Sydney and University College Nottingham. When Einstein visited University College Nottingham in 1930 and 1931 Brose acted as his interpreter. [.]. During World War I Brose was interned in Germany and during World War II he was interned in Sydney.".
