In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. 2nd Edition. Revised Edition, 1968 (the first edition appeared in 1958). Colour printed map 86x103cm, folded in its original buff printed envelope 24x30cm. Map near fine, envelope very good. This sheet covers the Red Sea coast from Abu Latt to the Farasan Islands including Al Qunfidhah, and part of the Ethiopian (Eritrean) coast. The revisions to this edition are principally to roads and the addition of new place names as of May 1968. This was a product of the groundbreaking mapping project USGS conducted for the Saudi Government with Aramco during 1956-63. This mapped Saudi Arabia in 21 Quadrangles on a 1/500K scale with one series for geology (I-200A to I-220A) and another for geography (I-200B to I-220B). It involved some of the most eminent geologists of the day, among them Glen Brown (USGS), Richard Bramkamp and Max Steineke (Aramco's early pioneers). The work provided the foundation for the Saudi Arabian Mineral Exploration Project launched in 1963, coordinated by Brown from Jeddah. Titled and captioned with Glossary and compilation sources in English and Arabic, features include settlements (including forts, ruins, cultivated areas, date gardens). Transport covers from roads to camel trails, rail and landing fields. Hydrographic features include wells, drilled water wells, wadis etc. Hypsographic features include types of sand, terrain, sabhkah, silt flats etc.…

In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. 2nd Edition. Revised Edition, 1968 (the first edition appeared in 1958). Colour printed map 102x106cm, folded in its original buff printed envelope 24x30cm. Map near fine with some crinkling, envelope very good. This sheet covers the Red Sea Coast from north of Rayyis to Al Lith including Jeddah and Rabigh. Among the most significant locations is Mecca itself (also labelled Makkah al Mukarramah) and its environs relating to Hajj including Arafat and Muna (Mina). Around Jeddah can be seen its ancient water tunnel, and to its north, the Desert Locust Control Camp. Taif is also shown. There are several unnamed camel trails and roads of questionable quality, likely relating to traditional Hajj and trade routes. The revisions to this edition are principally to roads and the addition of new place names as of May 1968.
