The Rorschach test was devised and organized by Herman Rorschach, who was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1884 and died in 1922. His early death was a great loss to psychiatry in general and to Swiss psychiatry in particular. He was an extremely versatile man with a sound character and a practical grasp of scientific knowledge together with an inexhaustible interest in research. The Rorschach test, often referred to as the "ink blot test," test is a projective psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation that is still in use today. A nice set, Scarce.…

Reissue of 1948 (originally published 1921). Ten inkblot diagrams, printed in black and white and in colors on heavy coated card stock, each with imprint on verso; housed in publisher's printed card box. A bright, well-preserved set, Very Good or better; in the original publisher's box, rubbed and slightly edgeworn but complete and sound. The plates were intended to accompany a text volume (not present here) presenting Rorschach's techniques for application and analysis of subjects' responses, based upon extensive clinical observations beginning in 1918. Rorschach's ideas were slow to be accepted, no doubt partiallly a result of his own sudden demise in 1922; numerous posthumous edtions and adjunct research by others eventually brought the technique of inkblot analysis into the mainstream.…

Binding tight and solid. The Rorschach Test is a result of the heyday of psychoanalysis and was Hermann Rorschach's attempt to open up the unconscious mind. He noticed that when people were presented with inkblot images, they often had completely different perceptions from each other. Rorschach theorised that what images a person perceived would inform a psychoanalyst about the unconscious workings of their client's mind. Critics of the inkblot test often cite the lack of agreement between therapists about what their client's perceptions mean, but it is in that ambiguity where the value of the test lies. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.…
