In the publisher's unclipped dust wrapper. Signed by the author "For Dingle Foot with best wishes from John Stonehouse 21 March 1960". Dingle Foot was a colleague and fellow Labour MP in the government of Harold Wilson. An autobiographical work of British Labour and Co-operative party politician John Stonehouse, who acted as an MP under Harold Wilson. Notably, Stonehouse is remembered for unsuccessfully faking his own death in 1974, and attempting to run away with his mistress.This account surrounds Stonehouse's two years spent working in Zimbabwe, including his dramatic expulsion by the Central African Federation after supposedly encouraging the indigenous people of the country to stand up against the government. In this personal account, Stonehouse attempts to clear his name, claiming he aimed to help local people by peaceful and constitutional means.
