First Edition. Publisher's black cloth with silver panels on the front and spine encasing the title and author in black lettering. With the price-clipped dust-jacket, slightly rubbed at foot of spine and along top edge of rear panel. VG+ copy, with no old inscriptions of other internal markings. Aveline was a founder member of 'Free French in France' in July 1940 with Jean Cassou and Marcel Abraham. He lived underground and with this cohorts edited the paper 'Résistance'. His first book 'Le Temps Mort' was published by the famous underground publishing house Editions de Minuit under the pseudonym 'Minervois'. His 1936 novel 'Le Prisonnier' has been cited by Camus as an influence and inspiration for his successful novel, 'L'Étranger'. Book.
