Many b/w and colour illustrations. Bright silver titles and decorations to spine and upper cover on black pebbled boards. Green tint to top page edge. Binding is very firm and tight. Slight bumping to one cover corner and small stain at foot of upper cover. Slight fading to tint on top page edge. Apart from owner's name on front pastedown, interior is very clean with no inscriptions. Not ex-library.

Faux Leather. Zustand: Ex. Lib. No Jacket. 4th Edition. A very good copy of this manual of typography, which is in remarkable condition for an ex-library book published in 1951. No Dust Jacket (as issued). Cover: black faux leather covered boards with silver lettering to front and spine; in very good condition; silver lettering very bright; some rubbing to all edges commensurate with age and use; library number to spine. Internally: clean and tightly bound; green print stamp from Flintshire County Library to edition page; bookplate from same library to front paste down along with small discreet bookplate from most recent owner; remains of issue stamp sheet and stamp 'withdrawn from stock' to front free end paper; no further marks or stamps; page edges pale green; generally a very good copy for its age. Illustrated throughout in black and white and red. xvi, 412 pp. A large and heavy book which may incur increased postage.

Cloth. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). An important typographical work on the art of printing and graphic design from Vincent Steer. Second edition. With many vignette illustrations throughout, and red-and-black illustrations to the rear. Vincent Steer was a compositor noted for founding the British Typographers' Guild and for his book on typography (Printing Design and Layout), which was known as the "Typographer's Bible". In a black pebbled cloth binding. Externally, smart, with just some very light bumping to the corners. Front hinge tender. Internally, generally firmly bound although a few of the pages are detached. Previous owner's ink stamp to front free-endpaper. Pages are bright, and quite clean, though with some occasional spotting. Good. book.

Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Decorative double gilt borders on boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges dyed green. A few minor white marks on the front board otherwise a near fine mid twentieth century leather binding. Not signed but certainly by a master binder.
