A useful and popular work, it went through several editions, the final appearing in 1724. Rebound with leather spine and marbled paper covered boards. Four raised bands and gilt title label to spine. Measuring approx. 18.2cm x 11.7cm x 4cm. In good condition. Internally there are more recent endpapers to front and rear. Corner section of the title page is missing (loss to several words, see photos), and there is a small chip to bottom corner of a prelim leaf. Ink name and marks to page I and inscription and corrections to base of one leaf. There is very pale staining to a small section of leaves. There are a couple of small worm runs to bottom edge of small section of leaves and this continues as a couple of holes to the majority of leaves either side. Scattered pale foxing/browning. Lightly thumbed and toned, with occasional crease and minor marginal nicks. Else overall in reasonable and firm condition for age. Boards are detached from spine, chipping to corners resulting in exposed boards, significant rubbing wear and stains throughout. Textblock is lacking the title page and front free end page, imprimatur page has been repaired; adhesive used in archival repair impacting subsequent page (1) along gutter causing some text to be obscured. The imprimatur page to page 14 is detached from the textblock, splitting to gutter along some pages from 286-318.
