In den WarenkorbHardcover. First Edition. Octavo, 2, [2], viii, 494, [2] pages, plus viii plates. In original brown and blue paper boards, rebacked with light brown paper. Boards show chipping along the edges and at the fore corners. Scuffing and light peeling to paper on the front board. Stains to rear board. Text block is moderately age toned… and sparsely foxed. Edges are deckles with small marginal chips and tears. Splitting in the gutters of p. 482/483 and p. 494/errata leaf; affected gathering is somewhat loose as a result. Cords of binding are split there as well, causing the board and spine material to partially separate from the binding. Offsetting to errata leaf and on plates. Ex-library, with penciling on front pastedown and stamps on front pastedown, title page, p. 1, and on verso of all plates. Shelved in Room A Octavo Overflow. John Howship was an English surgeon best remembered today for describing the Howship-Romberg sign. In this work, Howship describes several cases over the course of his career from diagnosis through treatment, covering brain trauma, lung cancer, liver disease, hernias, bone fractures, and more. Many cases are illustrated with plates. 1414811. Special Collections - Upstairs.
