In den WarenkorbHardcover. Second revised & updated. 8vo, 122pp, maps & ills throughout, orig.grey cloth with black title pieces cover and spine. Very good condition. Includes Griffith Taylor reporting on scientific travel in Antarctic, pages 113-142. Based on his experiences with Scott, so mentions Vladivostok ponies as well as man-drawn sleds and dog sleds (He still doesn't conclude that dogs were the way most effective - apparently most of Scott's dogs were Siberian and the 2 Eskimo dogs did much better). Gives specific food, fuel, clothing & transport requirements for exploration in and around Antarctica. Makes an interesting comment on photographic equipment, noting that the rubber focal-plane shutters could freeze stiff, and that glass plates were easily scratched and broken. Taylor also contributed to a 20pp article on Australian exploration & botanical collecting with Herbert Basedow (on how to approach aborigines), R. Lockhart Jack & others. The other sections include travel in Egypt, Venezuela & Haiti.
