Handsomely bound in a quarter morocco binding with cloth boards. Bound in a Birdsall signed binding. Written under the pseudonym The Druid which is Henry Hall Dixon this book explores horses and racing. The enlarged and revised edition includes twenty edited chapters. Additional material has been added on hunting. In the Preface to The Hunting edition from 1856, the Druid admits his lack of experience. He openly says that his hunting experience comes from observation rather than participation. In this preface The druid expresses gratitude and thanks to people who gave him accurate information which enabled him to write. This copy includes a beautifully engraved frontispiece and title page vignette. It includes one plate of J. J. Farquharson. Bound in a quarter morocco with cloth boards. Externally generally smart.
