Socialite Caroline Drayton Phillips' copy, with her early pencil signature on front flyleaf: "Caroline I.(?) Drayton / C. Hill." Caroline Drayton Phillips (1880-1965), wife of diplomat William Phillips and second cousin of Franklin D. Roosevelt, was a lifelong friend of Eleanor Roosevelt. Her diaries are currently being edited for publication.
