Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Plotto' is a legendary and comprehensive manual for creative writers, providing a systematic method for generating and developing fictional plots. Created by William Wallace Cook, a prolific pulp fiction author, this work offers an exhaustive approach to storytelling by identifying the core conflicts and narrative structures that drive compelling fiction. The method categorizes thousands of plot scenarios and character motivations, allowing writers to mix and match elements to overcome writer's block or find fresh inspiration. The text serves as a functional reference tool for anyone interested in the mechanics of narrative construction, from aspiring novelists to professional dramatists. By breaking down the 'Masterplot' into essential components of conflict, situation, and resolution, Cook demonstrates how all stories can be distilled into fundamental human struggles. As a cornerstone of early 20th-century writing theory, 'Plotto' remains a fascinating study of the creative process and a practical guide for building intricate, character-driven narratives. Its structured logic and vast database of narrative possibilities make it an invaluable resource for writers seeking to master the craft of plot development. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo. Blue textured cloth with white and gilt lettering. 300pp. Decorative endpapers. Very good. Quite minor edgewear only, mainly spine head and tail -- tight and internally near fine. Ownership name/address inkstamped on front pastedown and front flyleaf; one sentence underlined on page 5. Probable first and only edition of this strange and complex stab at plot creation using a convoluted and enormous series of numbered lists. Wallace (1867-1933) was a Michigan journalist and writer of-- well, you name it: Sci-fi, dime novels, westerns, serials, stage plays, screenplays and more. Accompanied by a sequel of sorts: "Plotto: Book of Instructions," an 8vo pamphlet in stiff orange wrappers published by Writer's Digest in 1934, ca. 50pp. Near fine. Same ownership name/address inkstamp on front wrapper. Both book and pamphlet are uncommon. Together, they represent one of the earlier and more bizarre forays into this now-established field.…
