Bound in full contemporary calf, gilt lettered label between raised bands to spine, original endpapers still present. Binding rubbed with some scuffing, cracks to head and tail of both hinges, upper hinge 30 mm (1½ inches) to head and 40mm (2 inches) to tail of both hinges, cover still firmly attached, narrow brown stain to edges of pastedowns and endpapers to both front and rear, A very good copy. Geo Leycester's ink name to top of first free endpaper and his armorial bookplate (Toft Hall) to first pastedown, Toft Hall came into the Leycester family when Ralph Leycester of Tabley married heiress Joan Toft of Toft in the late 14th century during the reign of Richard II.
