A lengthy series of novels by Sir Walter Scott, The Waverley Novels were among the most popular and widely read novels in Europe for nearly a century. Because Scott did not publicly acknowledge authorship until 1827, the series takes its name from Waverley, the first novel of the series released in 1814. The later books bore the words "by the author of Waverley" on their title pages. This wonderful 25 x Volume set of Waverley Novels comes in a branded slightly faded olive green, cloth covered box, with lift up lid and drop down front section. All books are in really good condition, normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. The branded box is a tad faded and worn, with small wear to top, showing a white mark. All books are beautifully black leather bound, only three of the twenty-five books, don't have their dust jackets. The other twenty-two books have dust jackets which states on the front cover of the dust jackets they are of India Paper. All books have silk bookmark attached. Each book measures 11cms wide x 1.5cms deep x 16cms tall. Please note that this is a large heavy boxed set of books and therefore postage/shipping may increase from listed price depending on final destination. I have put down the published date as 1901 however a couple of the books are dated 1902 and one is 1900.
