Very good except for marks to the outer panels, previous owner's signature dated 1946 at margin, and a route neatly marked in black ink with an arrow in the margin signposting Cairo Oct 28, 1946, and a couple of inked annotations. Extremely rare - Worldcat references only a digital image of a copy in the Amir Cahanovitc Collection, Israel, with this comment: "This series of maps was published shortly after the end of the war in Europe, when the RAF was able to concentrate upon the ongoing war in the Far East. They were issued in a series numbered 1-16, which between them covered the entire route between the U.K. and India. The limited print run of only 500 and the surrender of Japan just three months after the defeat of Germany ensured that surviving copies are rarely seen. These examples are from the personal collection of a former RAF officer, who served in the Middle East and North Africa during World War Two" (OCLC 1010304590). Not recorded on Library Hub. This sheet was copied from various GSGS 2555 sheets, photo-lithographed and printed by the Ordnance Survey in 1945. Its coverage stretches from the coast of Palestine to Baghdad with the RAF's Hinaidi Cantonment marked just outside, on a scale of 1/1M. It includes the complete air route from Lydda (Palestine) to Habbaniya (Iraq) via H3 airstrip along the Iraq Petroleum Company Pipeline. The air route is shown in bold red, with distances along its length. Other features include international boundaries, settlements, water features, colour shaded heights etc.…
