Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Many practical control problems are dominated by characteristicssuch asstate, input and operational constraints, alternations between different operating regimes, and the interaction of continuous-time and discrete event systems. At present no methodology is available to design controllersin a systematic manner for such systems. This book introduces a new design theory for controllers for such constrained and switching dynamical systems and leads to algorithms that systematically solve control synthesis problems. The first partis a self-contained introduction to multiparametric programming, which is the main technique used to study and compute state feedback optimal control laws. The book's main objective is to derive properties of the state feedback solution, as well as to obtain algorithms to compute it efficiently. The focus is on constrained linear systems and constrained linear hybrid systems. The applicability of the theory is demonstrated through two experimental case studies: a mechanical laboratory process and a traction control system developed jointly with theFord Motor Company in Michigan.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book assembles new methods showing the automotive engineer for the first time how hybrid vehicle configurations can be modeled as systems with discrete and continuous controls. These hybrid systems describe naturally and compactly the networks of embedded systems which use elements such as integrators, hysteresis, state-machines and logical rules to describe the evolution of continuous and discrete dynamics and arise inevitably when modeling hybrid electric vehicles. They can throw light on systems which may otherwise be too complex or recondite.Hybrid Systems, Optimal Control and Hybrid Vehicles shows the reader how to formulate and solve control problems which satisfy multiple objectives which may be arbitrary and complex with contradictory influences on fuel consumption, emissions and drivability. The text introduces industrial engineers, postgraduates and researchers to the theory of hybrid optimal control problems. A series of novel algorithmic developments provides tools for solving engineering problems of growing complexity in the field of hybrid vehicles.Important topics of real relevance rarely found in text books and research publications-switching costs, sensitivity of discrete decisions and there impact on fuel savings, etc.-are discussed and supported with practical applications. These demonstrate the contribution of optimal hybrid control in predictive energy management, advanced powertrain calibration, and the optimization of vehicle configuration with respect to fuel economy, lowest emissions and smoothest drivability. Numerical issues such as computing resources, simplifications and stability are treated to enable readers to assess such complex systems. To help industrial engineers and managers with project decision-making, solutions for many important problems in hybrid vehicle control are provided in terms of requirements, benefits and risks.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The book's text focuses on explaining and analyzing the dynamic performance of linear and nonlinear systems, in particular for Power Systems (PS) including Hybrid Power Sources (HPS). The system stability is important for both PS operation and planning. Placing emphasis on understanding the underlying stability principles, the book opens with an exploration of basic concepts using mathematical models and case studies from linear and nonlinear system, and continues with complex models and algorithms from field of PS. The book's features include: (1) progressive approach from simplicity to complexity, (2) deeper look into advanced aspects of stability theory, (3) detailed description of system stability using state space energy conservation principle, (4) review of some research in the field of PS stability analysis, (5) advanced models and algorithms for Transmission Network Expansion Planning (TNEP), (6) Stability enhancement including the use of Power System Stabilizer (PSS) and Flexible Alternative Current Transmission Systems (FACTS), and (7) examination of the influence of nonlinear control on fuel cell HPS dynamics. The book will be easy to read and understand and will be an essential resource for both undergraduate and graduate students in electrical engineering as well as to the PhDs and engineers from this field. It is also a clear and comprehensive reference text for undergraduate students, postgraduate and research students studying power systems, and also for practicing engineers and researchers who are working in electricity companies or in the development of power system technologies. All will appreciate the authors' accessible approach in introduction the power system dynamics and stability from both a mathematical and engineering viewpoint.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book mainly investigates the cooperative optimal control of hybrid energy system, it presents security control, multi-objective optimization, distributed optimization and distributed control approaches for tackling with security, economic and stability problem of the hybrid energy system. It aims to solve some challenging problems including security issue, economic cost or benefits from both power generation side and load demand side, and coordination among different power generators. The methods proposed in this book is novel and attractive, it consists of the hierarchical optimal control strategy for the security issue, multi-objective optimization for both economic and emission issue, and distributed optimal control for coordination among power generators.Readers can learn novel methods or technique for tackling with the security issue, multiple-objective problem, and distributed coordination problem. It also may inspire readers to improve some drawbacks of existing alternatives. Some fundamental knowledge prepared to read this book includes basic principles of the multi-agents system, robust optimization, Pareto-dominance optimization, and background of electrical engineering and renewable energy.
