Mill, in Observations on the Attempted Application of Pantheistic Principles to the Theory and Historic Criticism of the Gospel; Part I: On the Theoretic Application, had attacked Strauss"s treatment of the Gospel material in his Hulsean lectures for 1840." (David Arthur Pailin). "The "Preface" does, however, does show a commendable awareness of recent German and French publications responding to Strauss." (David Arthur Pailin). In a cloth binding with paper label on the spine. Externally, some wear and loss to the spine, lightly rubbed in places. Joints are a lightly cracked. There are several bookplates to the front pastedown and recto of front free-end paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are uncut at the edges. Pages are generally clean and bright. There is also an old ink inscription. Good. book.
