Two boys and their dog Jock save a train from two serious accidents when the engine driver and fireman become sick. No inscriptions, edges of boards very slightly faded, head and tail of spine very slightly worn, corners just very slightly rubbed, endpapers very slightly age-browned, 5 mm (¼") closed tear to 1 lower margin (repaired). Contents very nice. DUSTWRAPPER: Not price clipped (9s), faint foxing all over, 5 mm (¼") missing at head of spine, 10 mm (½") chip to top edge of upper panel next to spine, several small closed edge tears, corners slightly chipped, lower panel marked slightly on image by light through cellophane wrapper. A very good copy in very good DUSTWRAPPER. In his first Preliminary Hand-List of Ardizzone's books Brian Alderson dated this work (1947), but he has revised this to (1948) in his recent full length Bibliography, pages 54 and 59, No.23.1.
