Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: None Issued. 1st Edition. These Miscellany volumes were published from time to time and contained documents that did not fit naturally into any of the specific subject volumes published. Moving on to the nineteenth century, the supply of timber to the Royal Navy is examined, while two contributions deal with surveying off the west coast of Africa and another prints a diary kept by a member of the Naval Brigade operating onshore in the Zulu War. The most recent contributions deal with the origins and development of the Royal Australian Navy up to the 1950s. VINTAGESTAN BOOKS Title: The Naval Miscellany Volume VI Summary: This volume collects 30 letters written by Cuthbert Collingwood, 1st Baron Collingwood (1748-1810) during the years 17941809. The originals are in Collingwoods own handwriting. The letters are addressed mainly to two correspondents: Edward Collingwood (1734-1806) of Chirton, the Admirals third cousin and his nearest male relative of the name. Walter Spencer-Stanhope (1750-1821), MP, whose wife was the niece and heiress of Edward Collingwood. The first letter describes the battle of the Glorious First of June (19 May 1794).
