Rebacked, in full calf bindings. Retaining the original boards and endpapers. Externally, significantly rubbed to board perimeters. Volume I front and rear joints strained, and lightly tender. Internally, volume II firmly bound, with volume I binding tender throughout, with pages 81-254 detached and loosely inserted, and with first contents leaf detached and loosely inserted. Stamps to one leaf of volume II, with inscriptions to each title page. Pages bright, and generally clean, with only the odd spot. Fair. book.

In a Robert Seton of Head of the Mound, Edinburgh, binding. Written by Robert Thomas, an honorary member of the literary, historical and philosophical societies of New York. This is the final edition of the book published in Thomas' lifetime, as noted to the preface at the time of this edition he had 'nearly attained my seventy-fifth year, I cannot look forward to a much longer extension of my existence'. This work was extremely popular and even had translations into French. Thomas arranges the diseases into classes and orders at the start, with an explanation and derivation of their names. He then goes into detail describing each with the solutions. To name a few of the diseases discussed there is yellow fever, gout, measles, catarrh, asthma, pulmonary consumption, rickets, herpes and leprosy. In a half calf binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with slight rubbing to the spine. Small surface cracks to spine and some marks to cloth covered boards. Bookbinder's label to front pastedown, Robert Seton, Edinburgh. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with instances of scattered spots throughout. Very Good. book.
