Some worm holes in rear endpapers but also in front page bottoms up to p. 10. Ink signature from 1733 on a front endpaper as well as title page.

Textblock has splitting to gutter from front end-page to page 146 and pages 147-314, very loose rear end-page, ink staining on several pages, water damage, staining along joints, staining along front end-pages, severe staining along pastedowns, pencil marks on front pastedown, mild foxing along edges, moderate age-toning, moderate staining along edges, and moderate wear along edges. Wear to boards and board edges, corners bumped. Spine worn, with small loss to top of spine. Starting to crack over outer hinges, especially near top of spine. Endpapers cracked over inner hinges. Front hinge slightly slack, hinges otherwise holding. All edges red, speckled, top edges darkened. Mild offset browning to endpapers. Owner's signature to inside front board: 'William Dyde - 1759' (possibly the printer and antiquarian, author of the History and Antiquities of Tewkesbury, 1790). 2pp. bookseller's advertisement at front of volume, and 5pp. catalogue at rear. 12mo (10 x 17cm). Decorative head- and tail-pieces and fleurons. Printed by William Bowyer; his records show 1500 copies printed (ESTC). Published anonymously, this volume includes several of Jonathan Swift's most well-known poems as well as works by other authors from Swift's milieu. Teerink-Scouten, 30 (2), ESTC T39459. Hardback. Zustand: Very Good+. 1st edition. ~Original/early blank at each end in additon to pagination cited. Freshly rebound in tan calf, raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. Binding mint, contents Very Good. No ownership marks. This copy has 'Finis' at foot of p.432, but then includes pp.433-80, with the last contents page including the extra material. Pp. *197-*200 interrupt the text with 'Upon the Horrid Plot discover'd by Harlequin' (a poem). This arrangement apparently differs from all the copies listed in Copac, in which the text is said to be continuous, and the starred pagination is said to replace pp.197-200. The first printed page, facing the title-page, is an Advertisement, according to which this volume contains all the Pieces ascribed to Swift in the Dublin edition of his Works, except those which had already been published in the four volumes of Miscellanies printed for Motte and Gilliver, the Drapier's Letters and Gulliver's Travels. Very scarce. Size: (7),196, *197-*200, 197-480pp. Binding tight, text unmarked.
