In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. None (illustrator). A scarce anthology of works by the polymath Sir Thomas Browne, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. This edition of Sir Thomas Browne's Miscellaneous Writings, Miscellany Tracts and Repertorium was originally issued in 1931 as volume five of The Works edited in six volumes by Geoffrey Keynes. The unsold remaining stock of the sheets of volumes one to four was destroyed by enemy action in 1941, and the survivors, the two volumes entitled five and six, are now reissued separately with the addition of a few errata. Thus this book has been re-issued in a new edition. Sir Thomas Browne (1605-1682) was an author of a great variety of works, revealing his wide learning in diverse fields including science and medicine, religion and the esoteric. His writings display a deep curiosity towards the natural world, influenced by the scientific revolution of Baconian enquiry. This anthology of miscellaneous writings by Browne includes a selection of his Miscellany Tracts, Repertorium, On Dreams, poems, notes on natural history, and observations of anatomy, among other writings. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Dust wrapper is sunned and stained to the spine, with a little chipping to the extremities, but otherwise its colour is still bright. Very Good Indeed. book.
