In the Meiji era, matches were important as Japanese exports to foreign countries. A lot of work was put into packaging design, and a variety of designs were created based on traditional patterns and motifs. A nice collection containing many unique and charming examples. Very good to near fine. Each label measures around 3.5 x 5.5 cm. Text in Japanese, Chinese and English.
