Pièces de titre et de tomaison en maroquin rouge. La pièce de titre porte Memoire de Torcy alors que le titre est anonyme, l'auteur de ces mémoires anonymes devait donc être bien connu à l'époque. Légers frottements. Les Faux-titres du tome II et III ne sont pas présent comme dans tous les exemplaires que nous avons consultés, il est donc possible qu'ils ne soient pas manquants en fin de compte, et qu'il n'y eut qu'un faux-titre pour l'ensemble. Très bel exemplaire, bien frais. Ex libris aux armes gravées du XVIIIe de Louis Francois(1713-1791), Marquis de Monteynard (languedoc), Premier gouverneur de la corse, secrétaire d'état au département de la guerre et lieutenant général de Bourgogne. De vair, au chef de gueule, chargé d'un lion naissant d'or. Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Marquis de Torcy, fut un important diplomate français et un maillon clef dans les différents congrès internationaux qui conduisirent à l'établissement de la paix d'Utrecht et à la fin de la guerre de succession d'Espagne. Entre le traite de Riswick et celui d'Utrecht, la France perdit l'Acadie (le Quebec) et ses autres territoires américains, ainsi que son rêve d'hégémonie sur l'Europe, mais gagna une paix relativement durable et la sûreté de son territoire national.
