In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. "A book which is still revered by 'real' experts/specialists in Counterinsurgency in all its phases; however possibly too 'densely written' for the modern students' attention span. General Kitson writes both as a practitioner of uncommon ability and experience but also as an academic; the British Army having sent him, as a serving senior officer on a Fellowship, to study at Oxford - this book being one product of that study. Although it is sometimes overlooked as being dated it should still be required reading for both soldiers and politicians contemplating interventions in troubled areas of the world. One assertion which remains truly relevant is his argument that too many 'conventional' officers fail, for a variety of reasons, to understand and embrace the basic/fundamental principles of counterinsurgency - whether so-called Classical insurgency or the more recent Interventionist model. Best read in conjuction with his autobiographical book 'Bunch of Fives', which relates in more detail his experiences which led him to the assertions and conclusions contained in this book". Book in good condition overall. Library copy but lighter use as ex military stock. Dust jacket and protective film in good condition. Sound hinge movement, edges clean and sharp. Boards robust. Binder in very good condition. Flick through of text shows few marks/annotations of note other than initial library marks. 1971 edition. Many thanks for supporting independents.
