Brown cloth, spine titled in gilt. Foxing to edges and end-papers. Frontispiece illustration detached and loosely laid in. Good-plus, lacks dust-wrapper. ".with a section on the National Parks of Southern Africa by C. Selwyn Stokes, and illustrations and map by H.E. Winder. A contemporary account of the 3-year-long, 500-mile wanderings across southern Africa of Huberta the hippo". She became a minor celebrity in South Africa, revered by Zulus and Xhosas, and her journey was keenly followed by readers of Punch, The Morning Post and The Chicago Tribune, before she was shot to death by farmers in April 1931. "The book is a record of the animal's adventures, in association with comment on the fierce war that goes on ceaselessly in the bush-wild, together with some of the history of the territory through which Huberta passed" (from the author's Preface). .

The tan polished cloth cover is sure and secure. There is some wear and scuffing. Inside, the book is dusted with foxing throughout. The contents are yet secure, assured, mild.
