Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine dj. Illustrated by (dj) F.E. Warren (illustrator). First Edition. [nice clean copy, minor shelfwear, spine slightly turned; jacket has a tiny closed tear at the upper front hinge, otherwise clean and attractive with only a touch of edgewear]. A family's bucolic life on their remote ranch is upended when oil is discovered on their land, introducing them to the many complications of the nouveau riche. A late novel by this Illinois-born but mostly California-based writer (1867-1939), several of whose books were adapted for the movies (notably "Ruggles of Red Gap" and "Merton of the Movies"), but not this one.
Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First edition. Publisher's file copy so stamped on the topedge, and on the spine of the jacket, else about fine in very good or better R.S. Warren-designed dust jacket with a faint label shadow at the spine. An attractive copy of this comic novel, a precursor to *The Beverly Hillbillies* if you will, about a cattle rancher whose quiet life is interrupted by a gushing oil well, the accompanying wealth, and his families new-found pretensions.
Very Good (little scattered discoloration covers; contents clean & tight); few small chips d/j. 8vo., green cloth in dust jacket; 331 pages First Edition. Signed presentation by Wilson on half title-page: "To B.F. Hart: Don't know much about this one. Harry Leon Wilson.".
