It names 221 places across 387 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one report or narrative, five Operation Orders, eight appendices and two diagrams. Among the papers are: Amendments to Circular Memorandum in Connection with Divnl order No. 29. The diary opens at Aldershot on 24 September 1915. 1915 is spent at Nieppe, Armentieres, Ploegsteert and Pont De Nieppe. 1916 at Camblain l'abbe, Pont De Nieppe, Ploegsteert, Rollecourt and Bailleul. 1917 at Pont De Nieppe, Locon, Ypres, Godewaersvelde and Busseboom. 1918 at Achiet-Le-Petit, Avesnes-Lez-Aubert, Le Cateau, Rimboval and Samer. 1919 at Avesnes-Les-Aubert. It closes at Avesnes-Les-Aubert on 20 February 1919. Nieppe is where it spent longest, 165 days across ten separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 33. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Usna Redoubt, Mouquet Farm, Couthove Chateau, Midland Farm, Dugouts On Englebemer Martinsart Road, Aveluy Wood, Ploegsteert Wood and Nicholson's Farm.
