A first edition of three letters Sydney Smith sent to Archdeacon Thomas Singleton regarding the Ecclesiastical Commission. Following the Reform Act of 1832, which mandated the reform of public institutions, the body of ecclesiastical commissioners were appointed to determine the distribution of the revenues of the Church of England, and made extensive changes to to the way revenue was administered.
