First Edition. 96pp, illustrated with woodcuts by the author, some in text and some full-page, green cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket unclipped, torn on corners with some loss to top and bottom of spine, spine rather rubbed. Denys Watkins Pitchford MBE (1905-1990) was born at Lamport, Northamptonshire. His first book was published in 1937; Wild Lone was his second book. Over the next 50 years he wrote some 60 books of his own and illustrated another 35 by other authors. Although he used his real name for his illustrations he decided it was too long for an author which is why he adopted the psuedonym "B.B." for his writings. Size: 8.5 x 6.5 Inches.
