Februar 2006 in London), geborene Freiin Sybille Aleid Elsa von Schoenebeck, war eine deutsch-britische Journalistin und Schriftstellerin. Ihre Romane und Reiseerzählungen spiegeln die reichhaltige und abwechslungsreiche Lebensgeschichte ihrer Autorin wider. Darüber hinaus arbeitete Sybille Bedford auch als Gerichtsreporterin für Zeitschriften wie Esquire und Life. Sie lebte bis zu ihrem Tode in London. Zuletzt erschien unter dem Titel Quicksands ihre Autobiographie. Sie war befreundet mit Klaus und Erika Mann und Aldous Huxley, der 1935 ihre Scheinehe mit einem englischen Homosexuellen, Walter (?Terry?) Bedford, arrangierte, durch die Sybille die britische Staatsbürgerschaft erlangte. Sie verließ Frankreich noch vor der deutschen Invasion 1940 in Richtung Kalifornien/USA, ebenfalls mit Unterstützung der Huxleys und verbrachte dort die Zeit bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges.
