Maria Hack's youngest brother, Bernard Barton (17841849), the friend of Charles Lamb and a minor poet, recalled that in his youth his sister had been "a sort of oracle to me". Her enthusiasm for the education of children extended beyond her own family: in 1812 she published First Lessons in English Grammar, and a variety of other educational works for children followed. She also wrote works on theology. This volume contains three lectures on: Discovery and Manufacture of Glass Lenses and Mirrors The Structure of the Eye In a calf binding with gilt detail. Externally generally smart. Slight rubbing to the extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot. Very Good. book.
