The eight plates were designed by Arthur Layard for this first collected edition. No Thoroughfare appeared in 1867 as the extra Christmas number of All the Year Round. The Lazy Tour itself was a humorous account of Collins's and Dickens's walking tour in Cumberland, September 1857.
