Early ownership signatures on the title of Gulielini Chapple, 1779; Thomas Adams; and "B. Munkhouse, E Col. Reg., Oxon." Kelham (1717-1808) was a legal an…tiquary who concerned himself mostly with the translation of ancient records, which led to his compiling this dictionary. The part containing the laws of William the Conqueror has separate title page and separate pagination, and includes the text in Norman and the Latin translation of Dr. David Wilkins together with the English translation by Kelham (see DNB). This appears to be the first dictionary of Old French in English. Zaunmuller, 143; Vancil, p. 137.
