Nelson (b.1652/3) was called to the bar in 1684 and enjoyed a successful career in the court of chancery. Of note are his three-volume Abridgement of the Common Law published in 1735-1726, and a series of guides on the duties of justices of the peace and the rights of the clergy. cf.ESTC T78593, T71385 & T82612; Schwerdt II p.40 (1732 ed.).
