Softcover. Zustand: Good. Sheet music. Folio. Two nested bifolia making eight pages. Notched and worn along the fold from once being bound within an album as a result the bifolia remain bound together, dampstaining at the top corner and along the bottom half of the front cover affecting throughout (though the music remains perfectly legible), a piece of tape at the top of page three though it doesn't appear to be torn, and a music shop stamp on the front cover, complete but a good only copy. Five instrumental piece for piano with dance instructions printed in French and English. Allen Dodworth was a well-known New York dance instructor. A 1928 retrospective in *The New Yorker* gives us some insight into Mr. Dodworth and his Academy, "New York matrons-if there are any left-who went to the historic dancing school conducted by Mr. Allen Dodworth, still uncross their feet, and fold their hands carefully in their laps, whenever his name is mentioned. In an unladylike position, it would be unthinkable even to remember Mr. Dodworth . Now we shudder at the thought of what that stately gentleman would have thought of the swing and abandon, the snapping of fingers and flinging of heels-when our children do the Charleston.".
