Mild cracking to rear hinge, however binding remains firm. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Mild thumb-marking present. Boards have mild edgewear with corner crushing and notable marking to boards. Moderate tanning to board edges and spine, which has mild crushing and tearing to ends. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Mild water stains and droplets to boards. Mild erosion to upper edge of front board.

First edition hard back binding in publisher's original sea green cloth covers, black title and author lettering to the spine. 8vo. 8½'' x 6''. The Kitchen Encyclopaedia was published posthumously. Contains 717 + 1 printed pages of text with full-page colour and monochrome plates throughout. Cheap paper browning.
