Original green cloth with spine lettered in gilt, now dulled.The cloth is faded around the corners and edges of the book, corresponding to some chips in the jacket, and the boards are very slightly bowed. There is some spotting around the edges of the text block, and some offsetting to endpapers; there is also a gift inscription (not from the author) on the ffep, but there are no markings in the text. The jacket is in fair condition only - rubbed, bumped, chipped and torn (along and across the spine), and with small loss of text on the rear panel from where a label has been removed. The jacket is now in a removable protective c.
