In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good+. First Edition; First Printing. A first edition/first printing in Very Good condition with rurbbing to the boards and edges and soiling to the pages in a Good+ dust-jacket that is scuffed with chipping and tearing to the edges; In the fast-paced, high-tech world of the twenty-first century, death is no longer a mystery. With the advent of DNA testing and other forensic sciences, the cause of death is often known with certainty. But when a woman is found dead in her home, the detectives on her case are stymied. There is no evidence of a crime, and no one seems to know who she was.As they investigate, the detectives soon realize that the woman's death may have something to do with the death of her husband two years earlier. But even as they try to piece together the woman's life and the death of her husband, they are constantly thwarted by the apparent lack of evidence. Then, as the detectives get closer to the truth, they are met with another obstacle: the legal system. In an age of DNA evidence and high-tech forensics, the detectives find themselves up against powerful opponents who are determined to keep the woman's death; 8vo; 467 pages; TBC FSA.

In den WarenkorbFirst Edition. First printing. Inscribed on front endpaper: "To Miriam Moskowitz / who lived a part of this story - with deep appreciation and best wishes," signed by both authors, undated but apparently contemporary with publication. Octavo (24cm). Blue cloth hardcover; dustjacket; 467pp. Mild rubbing to bottom board edges, else a tight, clean, Near Fine copy. In the original dustwrapper, unclipped (priced $5.95 on front flap), slightly edgeworn with creasing at head and heel of spine panel; Very Good. A great association copy of the Schneirs' exhaustive investigation of the Rosenberg-Sobell spy case of 1950-53, in which the authors conclude that the couple were framed by an overzealous prosecution (in a much later book, Walter Schneir was compelled by the release of secret documents to state unequivocally that Julius Rosenberg had been a spy). This copy inscribed to Miriam Moskowitz, a New Jersey secretary who in 1950 was sentenced to two years in prison for her role in the Abraham Brothman nuclear spy case a trial that was considered an important lead-up to the Rosenberg trial a year later. Moskowitz served her entire sentence at the federal prison camp at Alderson, West Virginia; she later wrote her own account of her case (Phantom Spies, Phantom Justice, 2010).
