Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'In Interconnected Worlds, Henry Wai-Chung Yeung offers a theory-driven analysis of electronics global production networks during the 2010s, in order to develop the idea of global production networks as an organizational innovation that connect different and yet interdependent 'worlds' of production (e.g. from Silicon Valley to East Asia) and to demonstrate how GPN 2.0 can be productively applied to explain these contemporary organizational dynamics in the global electronics industry'--.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -This volume provides an introduction to and overview of the emerging field of interconnected networks which include multilayer or multiplex networks, as well as networks of networks. Such networks present structural and dynamical features quite different from those observed in isolated networks. The presence of links between different networks or layers of a network typically alters the way such interconnected networks behave ¿ understanding the role of interconnecting links is therefore a crucial step towards a more accurate description of real-world systems. While examples of such dissimilar properties are becoming more abundant ¿ for example regarding diffusion, robustness and competition ¿ the root of such differences remains to be elucidated. Each chapter in this topical collection is self-contained and can be read on its own, thus making it also suitable as reference for experienced researchers wishing to focus on a particular topic.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 248 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -This volume comprises the proceedings of a NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) held at Geilo, Norway, 11-21 April 2005, the eighteenth ASI in a series held every two years since 1971. The objective of this ASI was to identify and discuss areas where synergism between modern physics and biology may be most fruitfully applied to the study of bioprocesses for molecular recognition, and of networks for converting molecular reactions into usable signals and appropriate responses. Many fields of research are confronted with networks. Genetic and metabolic networks describe how proteins, substrates and genes interact in a cell; social networks quantify the interactions between people in the society; the Internet is a complex web of computers; ecological systems are best described as a web of species. In many cases, the interacting networks manifest so-called emergent properties that are not possessed by any of the individual components. This means that the detailed knowledge of the components is insufficient to describe the whole system. Recent work has indicated that networks in nature have so-called scale-free characteristics, and the associated dynamic network modelling shows unexpected results such as an amazing robustness against accidental failures, a property that is rooted in their inhomogeneous topology. Understanding these phenomena and turning them to use in chemical and biological threat detection and response will require exploring a wide range of network structures as well.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 220 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Interconnected Modern Multi-Energy Networks and Intelligent Transportation SystemsA timely introduction to the revolutionary technologies reshaping the global energy marketThe search for more efficient and sustainable ways to meet society's energy requirements has driven recent technological innovation on an unprecedented scale. The energy needs of a growing population coupled with concerns about climate change have posed unique challenges that necessitate novel energy technologies. The transition of modern energy grids towards multi-energy networks, or MENs, promises to be a fundamental transformation in the way we energize our world.Interconnected Modern Multi-Energy Networks and Intelligent Transportation Systems presents an overview of the foundational methodologies and technologies underlying MENs and the groundbreaking vehicle systems that bring them together. With the inclusion of transformative technologies from radically different sectors, the content covered in this book will be of high value for researchers interested in future energy systems.Readers will also find:\* In-depth examination of the process of switching from conventional transportation systems to modern intelligent transportation ones\* Detailed discussions of topics including self-driving vehicles, hybrid energy technologies, grid-edge, and more\* The introduction of a holistic, reconfigurable system adaptable to vastly different conditions and forms of network interactionInterconnected Modern Multi-Energy Networks and Intelligent Transportation Systems is useful for researchers in electrical, mechanical, civil, architectural, or environmental engineering, as well as for telecommunications researchers and for any industry professionals with an interest in energy transportation.
