Tiré à 175 exemplaires sur vélin d'Arches, un des 25 exemplaires nominatif de Julien Cain (1887-1974), administrateur de la Bibliothèque Nationale où l'ouvrage fut imprimé. Il est signé des deux artistes et enrichi d'une GRANDE AQUARELLE sur double page de Vertès, signée et dédiée. in-folio.

With a full page drawing of Jacqueline Simon inscribed to Jacqueline and Pierre Simon signed by Vertes, dated 1960, New York. The numerous black and white lithographs some double-paged were printed by Freres Mourlot on Grand Velin d'Arches in French. Laid-in a brochure -- (French text) "Documents; Marcel Vertes, Les Cahiers D'Art, Numero 27, 1956," listing works by him. All contents clean and bright. Orig. portfolio cover a color lithograph with original glassine, contents loose as issued laid-in. Fine in Very good beige cloth folding box bumped at upper corner.

Text composed by hand with "une fonte nouvelle, de corps 24, des caractères gravés, en 1540, par Claude Garamond". The original lithographs of Vertès printed on the handpresses of Mourlot Frères. All copies are signed by the artist and the author. - - One of the 15 numbered copies with 2 original drawings of Vertès on Chinese paper, under passepartout, and in 3 covers 3 additional runs: 1) Suite complète (62 lithographs)en noir (some light folts; on 1 plate a few lightbrown spots); 2) Suite complète en vieux rose des 62 lithographies originales. This series with watermark 'Arches' (thinner paper); 3) Suite de preuves en gris de 20 pierres non utilisées ('refusées'),(11 with more or less small lightbrown spots).
